Community Spotlight

Pro Bono Work

The firm encourages its lawyers to share their expertise and passion for justice with those who need help and support but cannot afford the services of an attorney. The firm dedicates hundreds of hours each year to pro bono work and considers this work both a professional responsibility and a privilege.

The firm was honored to have been acknowledged by Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, Inc. in 2008 with the first-ever Gerald R. Ortbals Outstanding Law Firm Award. This Volunteer Lawyer Award given by Legal Services recognizes Carmody MacDonald as a firm that has truly distinguished itself with its commitment to pro bono service.

Professional Involvement and Mentoring

Attorneys at Carmody MacDonald take an active role in the legal community. Attorneys contribute their expertise and know-how by mentoring aspiring legal students and professionals. The firm sponsors the Carmody MacDonald Legal Practice Excellence Awards, honoring award recipients for excellent performance in Legal Practice class at Washington University. Several attorneys teach classes at the university level and actively participate with impressionable students in the K-12 classroom through Junior Achievement.

Every attorney at Carmody MacDonald belongs to local and regional bar associations and many participate on committees, policy-making teams and in fundraising events.

Overall, the same spirit of dedication, persistence, selflessness, preparedness and endurance that we extend to our clients, we humbly extend to our community.
